• DESCRIPTION: Pair of walnut demilune tables

Genuine tables which have character and presence. Spanish Fratino console pair each features semi circle top with beautiful patina over a baroque style trestle base. Lyre-shaped legs are connected to the table top via a beautifully carved cross stretchers. There is a perfect balance between the simplicity of the top and the rich carving of the base. Placed against a wall in a living room, library, or foyer, these Spanish lyre legs console tables would be a great addition, under a gorgeous mirror or painting, with your favorite decorative objects atop - versatile and can be used as a centrepiece table or separated to be in an entrance or if you have the room behind a sofa with a lamp and some books or framed photos displayed.

• HISTORY: I have been told these demilunes are from the Aragon region in Spain. This was confirmed to me by a dealer in Madrid who grew up in the Aragon region and he desperately wanted me to ship them over to Spain in a container.

• CONDITION: There has been some skillful repairs estimated to have occured over 100 years ago. There has been repairs to the table top, some small pieces of timber have been skillfully set into the top where there may have been holes. It has been stained in a very dark colour. These would look incredible scrubbed back. One stretcher along the base has been replaced on each demilune, given that these are over 300 years old, this is unsurprising.

One scroll has broken but it fits perfectly in place. This has been an advantage and assisted greatly in aging this piece due to the had forged iron nail which was exposed in the break. It is also intact should you prefer to have it fused together permanently.
